Front End Products – The Key Components To Your Front End Offer
You must have a suite of products and services to become successful in business. That suite starts with your front end products. Here are the key components.
Hi Trish Davies here, founder of Build Your AU and Trish Davies International. Today I want to focus on your products and services, specifically your front end products. You may have heard this term along with the term back end products.
Together they will form your suite of products and services for your online business. Believe me when I say that every business online and offline must have them in place. You can’t rely on just one product or service; you can’t be a one trick pony!
Imagine if you local hardware store only sold a screws, nothing else. They would never make any money. The same can be said for McDonalds if all they sold was a hamburger.
Now if the hardware store sold the washers, rawl plugs and screwdriver they have the makings of a suite of products. McDonalds have the fries, milkshakes, ice creams and muffins to name a few. I am sure you can see the point I am making.
The point is you must have back end products but that conversation is for another day. Today I want to focus on the front end products and key components for those front end products. Also, I want to look at the strategy for you front end products.
Actually, let’s look at that first.
Front End Products Strategy
The main purpose of your front end products is customer acquisition and to break even in your marketing. Get this right and you make your profits in the back end. You must always have this in your mind when you are marketing your front end products.
The key point is to break even when you are laying out hard cash. If every customer you acquire costs you $1 you must aim to get that $1 dollar back with the front end initial transaction.
Hypothetically if you spent $500 you must aim to get 500 new customers back in return. When this happens your are not spending money you are investing money. You have no expense.
If you have this marketing strategy working perfectly there is no need to set any limits on how much you invest. Every customer acquisition grows your company so invest as much as you can.
To acquire as many customers as you can relies on your front end products. They must excite your new customers so they continue to do business with you through your back end products.
Your front end products must hit the spot and here are the key components they must include.
Key Components To Front End Products
Must Be High Quality
Your front end products will be low value in terms of price but they must now be low quality. It should blow your customers away, top quality, remarkable. They should never reflect the price you are charging.
You mindset must be what the average lifetime value of your customer will be. The more value you pack into your front end products will dictate whether your customer invest more in the back end.
You Must Over Deliver
Your customers will have their own expectations of what your front end products deliver. Therefore, you must deliver on your initial promise and then go more than that extra mile.
Never hype up your products and then under deliver. Give more here and you will receive more later!
Wow Your Customers With Unexpected Value
Here you take the previous point one step further. Imagine your customers reaction when they are presented with unexpected bonuses that compliment your front end product.
When you do this you over deliver and exceed all expectations that your brand new customer has. One caveat though is to ensure that your bonuses are high quality. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot by offering mediocre. Always offer high quality.
Create A Great Customer Experience
You must never focus on the transactional phase to gaining new customers. Instead, you must focus on giving your new customer a great experience when they enter your business.
This starts when they first make their order, receive their product and use their new purchase. Also, the communication system you set up must make them feel special so that you position your business as the one that does go that extra mile.
Low Entry Cost
Remember earlier I said that the purpose for your front end products is customer acquisition. You want to get as many as you can. Therefore, your front end offers must have a low entry price point.
You want to build a list of buyers. People who have handed over the credit card details for which you have on file. New customers are often sceptical, they want to try you out and see if you deliver.
A low entry price point reduces the risk in the customers eyes. It removes that initial barrier of getting their credit card out. That low entry price point also helps you out as it is far easier for you to then over deliver on the value you provide.
Back End Marketing
Everything I have shared so far reflects the strategy for front end products marketing. Now you have the opportunity to start your back end marketing through strategic content placing.
Wherever you take your new customer after they have purchased is an opportunity for you. That place could be an eBook, a short video course, a membership area etc. Here you can allude to other products and services that you have in your product suite.
Link to those backend products along with successful case studies and testimonials. You may also want to link to thank you offers. Offers that have a discount to show your appreciation in the trust your customer has put in you.
The key here is not to go for a hard sell as that will put your customers off. Always lead with the additional benefits your customer could receive, just be subtle!
