Hi, Trish Davies here, the founder and creator of the Build Your AU Mastermind training program. I have been a business owner for several years now and that was born out of personal tragedy in the late 1990’s. My husband was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident which left me a widow and a single mother. My daughter had lost her father and together we found ourselves in a very difficult position.
I realised that I needed to build a financial firewall around my family just like a firewall you build around your devices. I had to ensure that I protected my daughter and myself so nothing could get through and harm us.
It soon became apparent that I needed to replace an income, at least one income from my household. How I was going to do that was the challenge! Immediately I thought the best way would be through formal education and I gained a commerce degree in 2002.
My main objective was to replace my income to not only protect my daughter but to ensure I never went back to the corporate job I hated. I don’t like the 9-5 routine and being told what to do from so-called higher-level management.
The outcome from having no job, investments, no money and no home was building a property investment portfolio. This was in both Australia where I live and the USA. It didn’t just happen though as I went through an extensive process of education and coaching. This also made me realise the authority that personal branding gives you.

I branded my property investment business Buying USA Real Estate because the process establishes uniqueness. It also allows a person to build a reputation on the things that they want to become known for. On a personal level it also enables the person to know exactly what they want to be known for. It gives that person clarity and helps them to define their purpose and provide value.
Personal branding has always been at the forefront of my mind whenever I enter a new business venture. You must differentiate yourself to ensure you stand out from your competition. If you follow the herd so to speak then you just get swallowed up and it is harder for people to find you.
