The eLearning industry has seen huge growth over the last few years. There are many platforms online that host thousands of online courses that cover all aspects of life. As a result of the Coronavirus the industry has seen a huge spike in the number of people looking to learn skills.
So, the timing is perfect for you to enter an industry which gathering momentum every day. Although I don’t know you personally as yet, I do know that you possess huge value. Value that will impact and change peoples lives for the better. How do I know this?
I am contracted to a training company here is Australia and every day I present our training programs. Each day I have groups of people from different industries and I am constantly amazed by how talented people are.
Therefore, you have your own unique gifts and talents which have led to the achievements you have made. Sometimes people don’t realise just how talented they are. It is there for you to see when you look in the mirror but, on many occasions, it takes people on the outside to show you.
This is evident within my own online training program called Build Your AU. The program is designed to data from you to define what you are great at. Then you work with me and collectively within the group to create an authority business model.

There Are Two Strategies You Can Use To Build Your Online Courses
Just a couple of days ago my weekly Build Your AU mastermind was centred around this topic. All of the members are on the same journey to create and sell online courses, albeit at different stages.
The call was focused on creating the content that forms the training packages people are building. The debate started by looking at two definitive strategies to build your course, which I will cover very shortly.
Also, the conversation moved onto creating content that focused on building an audience for your online course. The two work very closely hand in hand and this is what I want to share with you today.
Build It And They Will Come
You may already have an idea for the online course you want to create. What I will say is that you must do some research to see if there is demand for your course. If there isn’t then you may need to go back to the drawing board. There are many market research tools that you can leverage on the internet to find out this information.
What you can then do is go ahead and create the course before you consider marketing it. A member referred to this strategy as “build it and they will come”. Unfortunately, he had seen many people who had done this but had then struggled to sell their course.
Now there may be many reasons for this but it doesn’t mean this strategy won’t work. If you know the demand is there and your course offers a clear solution and outcome, then there no reason not to create it.
After you create it though you must know how to market it to attract your ideal customers. You can’t just leave it to gather virtual dust and expect people to find it! This involves creating content to create awareness of your course within the marketplace.
Content such as blogs, videos, podcasts, and social media updates. This creates the awareness and then engagement with your audience which leaves them wanting to know more.
In recap this strategy is where you create your course and then build your audience.
Create And Sell Online Courses As A Work In Progress
The next strategy is where you flip things around create an audience first. Now that may sound a strange thing to do because of the fact you haven’t got anything to sell. However, this strategy does work and here is why.
When you start to create content that makes your audience aware of their problem, engagement quickly follows. By writing your blogs, shooting your videos, or recording your podcasts you are creating your message. That message will focus on pain points your audience has through the research you have done.
By adopting this strategy, you are gauging exactly what your audience needs from the product you will create. That feedback is the gold dust you need to create the solutions to ease your audiences’ pain.
Therefore, it makes product creation easier in many ways because you are working on facts rather than what you think your audience needs. Also, you will have your audience in place for when your training course is complete.
My Build Your AU training program is based more around this strategy. About a year or so ago I became clear on the training package I wanted to create. I specialise in helping people create a personal brand and my authority business model started to take shape.
My market was predominantly small business owners and sole entrepreneurs. I started a Facebook group and personally invited people who were a great fit. Back in September 2019 I started to host weekly live webinars which I prefer referring to as masterminds.
Anyway, week by week I have taken the members through a process of building their own personal brand. Now they are creating their own training packages. Every session has been recorded and now forms my own training program.
