The eLearning industry is a multibillion-dollar industry and the projection is that it will only go one way. That is up because more and more people are looking to gain knowledge online and to learn new skills. This is more prevalent due to Covid-19 and the restrictions it has brought in regard to socialising and employment.
Today I want about the benefits for you as a coach. Then I am going to share with you my #1 platform of choice where I host online courses.
What Is Online Coaching?
In a nutshell online coaching is the ability to share your knowledge and expertise by leveraging technology. There is a saying “right time, right place” and you find yourself in it here right now!
The digital world that we live in now has massive resources that you can leverage. Online video conferencing platforms such as Zoom and a number of platforms where you can host online courses. More on that shortly.
If you are a coach or are looking to position yourself as a coach, then you must get online. There really is no alternative at this moment in time as I know all to well. I am a coach and trainer for a large training company in Australia.
We have many corporate groups come through our trainings and up until March 2020 we used to coach in person. This means I would be in front of people in a standard training room to deliver my content.
Sometimes I would travel to a company’s workplace but all that ended with Covid-19. This meant that the company had to adapt along with other coaching companies around the world. That applies to individual coaches and trainers because Covid-19 restricted social interaction. Our company transitioned to Zoom which I was comfortable with as I use it for my own coaching business.
As I said earlier there is no alternative at the moment. In person coaching will eventually come back into the fold but not for a while. So, this is a massive opportunity for you to position yourself as an online coach, so take it.
Benefits Of Online Coaching For Coaches
I will share with you the benefits of online coaching from a coaches perspective as well as a students. First let’s start off with the coach.
As a coach or trainer, you would up until Covid-19 practiced your coaching skills face to face. You would have been in a very similar position to me as I mentioned earlier. So, you would have logistical challenges such as travelling and possible overnight accommodation to arrange.
Then you have the premises that you hold your sessions in. Things such as Wi-Fi capabilities, lighting, heating, and technology such as overhead projectors. You may also use handheld remotes that are connected to your laptop and large screens.
Those are just a few examples and there are many more, but the point is that there is a lot of moving elements. Elements that if not working in sync can cause all sorts of problems along with wasting valuable time.
When you are an online coach you can work from your home and connect to platforms such as Zoom. Then you can hold your sessions and let the functionality of Zoom handle everything for you. It is a great user experience for you as a coach as there is no travelling and less expense.
Also, a massive benefit of online coaching for you as a coach is that you can record your sessions. Then you can host online courses through a platform I will shortly introduce you to.
The biggest benefit of hosting online training is that you don’t have to be there to deliver. Your recordings are delivered automatically through the platform which makes it fully automated. You could literally be sitting on a beach while your students are absorbing your content!
Benefits Of Online Coaching For Students
There are many benefits for students to learn online. The first is that they don’t have to travel. No more rush hour traffic to deal with, or public transport which is not a desired method of transport for many with Covid-19 around.
Therefore, it is more cost effective for people to learn online. Most people already have a laptop or device so it is not an additional cost they must incur. Many courses can cost tens of thousands of dollars to attend because of the logistical cost which the coach is liable for.
The ability to host online courses negates that cost dramatically. Therefore, you as a coach can charge less but still make very good margins. This then make it more attractive for students.
Students can learn at their own pace especially if they are following an online course you have hosted online. Sometimes it is overwhelming for students if they are in that training room environment. Usually there is a strict schedule in place and people can fall behind.
That factor is taken away when they can learn at a pace, they are comfortable with. You as a coach can help them by drip feeding your content to stop your students feeling overwhelmed. Basically, you can control their progress to ensure that they finish particular steps before they move on.
Your students can set their own time schedule for learning. Many of them will have regular jobs so they can go through your course in their downtime. There are 24 hours in a day, and they can access your online course at anytime that is convenient.
