Living A Laptop Lifestyle – What Does This Mean?

There is a lot of hype around living a laptop lifestyle. Is it real or just a load of fluff? Carry on reading to learn just what living a laptop lifestyle is all about.

Hi Trish Davies here  and the focus for today is to give you clarity on what living a laptop lifestyle means. Now as you have expressed an interest in this subject you are in all probability looking to create some form of business.

You are again in all probability intrigued as to how you can leverage your device to create this lifestyle. Well, that is to come in my next post where I will share some insights on how to start a lifestyle business.

Today is all about defining what living a laptop lifestyle is all about. You may have seen social media posts with people standing in front of huge mansions with the latest sports car in the drive. They may well have had huge wads of cash in their hands and the promise that they can help you achieve the same.

In reality only a few of those people have genuinely made any level of money to make that happen. It is easy to rent a house and car for a day and maybe photocopy cash to create this vision of wealth.

That kind of promotion may have worked in the past and people would have got sucked into it. The trouble is that they are spat out just as quickly. Now I am not here to dispel any notion that you can make money through using your laptop, far from it.

What I am here for is to give you my interpretation of living a laptop lifestyle.

Living A Laptop Lifestyle – What Are The Principles? 

What I am going to do is cover three core aspects that make living a laptop lifestyle possible. Once I have done that I will share a resource that I have created which will give you ideas of how to create a lifestyle business. In my next post I will break down the steps it takes to create that lifestyle business.

Freedom Of Choice 

The key word in living a laptop lifestyle is lifestyle. Now to me it is all about freedom of choice that makes up your perfect lifestyle. This is a subject that we have been covering over the last couple of weeks within the Build Your AU mastermind.

What it boils down to is having the ability to do what you want, when you want and where you want. It is the freedom of choice to do what kind of work you want to do. Something that you are passionate about, motivates you and gives you purpose. When you achieve that then work doesn’t really feel like work!

Freedom of choice enables you to create your own schedule, your own calendar. This is something that nigh on impossible to do when you work for someone else. Usually, you are governed by the hours that other people set for you, they create your schedule.

Portable Business 

Having a portable business enables you to create the third element to freedom of choice. If you work a regular job or have a business at a fixed location then there is no portability. You must be there to carry out your task of work.

To create a true lifestyle business, you must be able to take that business wherever you go. Now some people may think that is farfetched, that is anything but the truth. Your laptop is your command zone when you press that power up button. It can be activated from any location in the world which gives you that portability.

Therefore, you can operate your lifestyle business locally, nationally and internationally. Right from your home office, your local coffee shop, a family members home or you luxury hotel in some far flung exotic location.

This is all possible which I feel is the true meaning of living a laptop lifestyle. I have done this many times traveling the world and around my home country, Australia. I am based in Tasmania which is off the mainland of Australia.

My home office is my hub, my base and where I can control my business interests. They include my property investment business which is based in the United States of America.

My corporate training role I now operate remotely through Zoom at my home. I have a network of people around the world assisting me with my online marketing business interests.

All of these operations are controlled through my laptop and desktop. Yes the desktop stays in my office when I travel but I have it’s twin with me at all times which is my laptop.

A Laptop Lifestyle Gives You Work Life Balance 

I recently spent the weekend with my daughter on the mainland to celebrate her birthday. Although it was a weekend of celebration and taking time out of my business my business was with me. Just in case I needed to do something.

That one scenario illustrates perfect living a laptop lifestyle. You can create a perfect balance when it comes to work and life. This is the most important thing that you can create, that work life balance. It is far more important than all the nice cars, houses and toys that some people think that a laptop lifestyle is all about. It is not, well not for me.

Leveraging Technology 

Now living a laptop lifestyle can only be achieved through leveraging technology. I have mentioned the fundamental things you need to operate an online business. A business that affords you that freedom of choice.

You will need a laptop or desktop that form the main technological foundations for your business. You can also leverage your smartphone and tablets when it comes to running your business. Again, they are portable to compliment your laptop and enables you the freedom of movement.

They are the main hardware you need but to create a lifestyle business you must leverage other technology. Now I will go into more detail in my upcoming post on how to create a lifestyle business, but I want to put things into context.

To truly achieve a laptop lifestyle business, you must leverage automation and third party software. Here is where all the magic happens. You objective is to systemise your entire business so that you create an eco-system that works seamlessly.

Automation is the key to creating a laptop lifestyle. It helps with your marketing, customer acquisition, customer nurturing, creating your schedule. Automation by leveraging technology enables you to process payments and product delivery and fulfilment.

When you achieve freedom of choice, a portable business and leveraging technology you can create a laptop lifestyle. Now there are other factors which I will cover in my next post.
