Now the key here is strategy rather than the mechanics and aesthetics to creating a personal brand. While those are important to the positioning of your personal brand online you need meat to put onto that bone.
One crucial element to personal branding is communication but that has many facets. The communication you have with your audience revolves around your brand message. Your message is made up around what you values are, your attitudes and your beliefs.

Back to your branding message. This is one of the biggest marketing tools at your disposal. This tool can then be expanded on using powerful communication strategies which is the focus for today.
I want to show you how to use 5 personal branding activities, strategies, to provide value to your audience. In many respects the strategies reflect the context you want to deliver to your audience. As you will see the purpose of each strategy is different yet quite closely interlinked.

Educate Your Audience
Your personal brand fits into a specific niche. For example, Build Your AU fits into the personal branding niche. Therefore, your niche will appeal to a specific segment of society, they are interested in it and therefore want to learn about it.
As an educator, trainer, coach you have positioned yourself as an authority within your niche. Therefore, you have the credentials to teach all aspects of your niche to your audience.
You audience is keen and willing to learn. Therefore, you are positioned to meet that demand. Part of your personal branding activities is to teach and educate your audience on specific topis within your niche.
To do this you will create content which falls under the umbrella of “How To”. For example, For example “How To Build Your Authenticity, Authority and Audience” which is the subject for my free 9 step personal branding program. That program shows exactly how to create a personal brand in a step by step format.
Think about what your audience needs to learn then create the relevant content and publish that content.
Inform Your Audience
Informing is different to educating your audience. You could inform your audience on the latest trends within your niche or industry. For example, say your personal brand is related to consumer technology. You can inform your audience when the latest iPhone is being released or the next version of Windows operating system will be available.
You can also inform your audience of any updates you or your business has. Say you were relocating, or you are expanding your products and services. Also, your audience is interested in what is going on in your life personally such as relationships, vacations, moving home etc.
Basically, if there is anything going, changed or is going to change then inform your audience.
Engage With Your Audience
Whatever you say or do can initiate a conversation with your audience. Likewise, they can approach you out of the blue. Make sure you respond accordingly and engage with your audience.
Communication channels are widespread. Your website/blog is one as are your social media channels, YouTube channel and email list. This is where all your content will be first published and where your followers will see it.
You initiate the conversation through the context of your content which they then respond to. They have engaged with you so you must engage back to them. That engagement may be on an emotional or practical level.
Empower Your Audience
You must empower your audience to assume power and take control of their own lives. It is a call to action, telling them to do something that will benefit their lives. For example, you are here on this website because you are interested in creating your own personal brand.

When you use those strategies correctly you will make an emotional connection with your audience. When you achieve then that connection becomes long-term. There may be times in the future you make a physical connection with people at events.
Obviously Covid-19 has curtailed that opportunity, but you can still make virtual physical connections through online platforms. Platforms such as Zoom & Skype.
It also helps your personal brand to make industry connections, not necessarily within our own field. It is important to build a network of business peers so to speak. Masterminds are great such as my own Build Your AU mastermind.
That is a place where people from all around the world meet up once a month and collaborate. They are from different industries but there are specific commonalities that emerge, and collaborations have been formed.
