Hi Trish Davies, here from BuildYourAU.com and TrishDaviesInternational.com. Today’s post is going to be very proactive as I am going to share with you how to sell online courses from your own website. The eLearning business has seen massive growth over the last few years and is expected to be worth over $300 Billion by 2025.
Therefore, the time is now to ride this wave of opportunity and profit from what you are good at. You have gifts and talents that people want to learn from. The knowledge that you possess has the potential to transform peoples lives and they are willing to pay for it.
So, what we are focusing on today is online training courses that solves peoples problems. Whether it is how to lose weight, how to build websites or how to start an online business the demand is there.
Maybe you are a life coach, a marketing expert, a photographer, or a musician you can package up your expertise. Through reports, eBooks, videos, masterminds, and one on one consultations you can create an online coaching business.
A business that is solely based upon your knowledge, expertise, and life events. The potential is huge, and I am going to share with you how to promote and profit from the value you have to share.
I am going to share with you options and strategies to sell online courses from your website. Some will be free, and some will require an investment, but you will have a clear idea on what to do when it comes to selling your online course.
How To Sell Online Courses From Your Own Website
First I am going to give you some options to consider when it comes to platforms to deliver your content. I am going to start with your own authority website which is something that you must have in place. It instantly establishes your authority when people look you up online.
Your Own Website
If they can see you have a professional authority website it reassures them that they are in the right place. A place that they can find the solutions to their problems.
There are many website creation platforms available, but my recommendation is WordPress. The reason is that WordPress is a very user friendly and intuitive platform where you can build stunning websites.
The website you are currently on is built on the WordPress platform. Your training material will be made up from eBooks, videos and audios and WordPress has a great feature where you can password protect content that you require people to pay for.
Therefore, when someone makes a purchase they will instantly receive details on how to create their account. Then once they have created their account they will get instant access to your training material.
The benefit for you with this method is that it is extremely cost effective as it will be part of your hosting fee. It is relatively easy to set up especially when you use additional software on your website.
The only main downside I can see from this method is this. Depending on your hosting company content delivery could potentially be slow as you will have a lot of media files within your websites framework. It is mainly the videos because they take time to load which could be problematic.
Otherwise hosting all your content on your own website is an excellent option especially if you are starting out.
Third Party Platforms
There are many third-party platforms where you can deliver your training material from. I use a platform called Kajabi which you can learn more about here. What you do here is leverage more advanced technology than you have with a WordPress website or similar alternative.
A company such as Kajabi is built for delivering online training courses and they do it very well. They are streamlined which in my opinion gives a better user experience for your students which is very important.
Kajabi also has a feature where you can connect your own custom domain name to your account. Therefore, it still appears that the website people land on is yours as it has your own domain name. So technically you can build an online coaching website on a different platform to your own website.
Either way you can then promote your online courses on your authority website which is what I want to focus on now.
Strategies For Promoting Your Online Courses
Even if you use the second option of Kajabi you should still create your own authority website. The reason I say this is because your own website is a platform that you have 100% control over. It is also your platform to create promotional content on that drives people to your product offers.
You can use promotional strategies such as creating blogs, just like the one you are currently reading. Your blogs will make people aware of you and what you have to offer such as your products and services.
Create Blog Posts To Promote Your Online Courses
You create blogs that highlight those problems and then have links contained within the body of the text. Those link then direct people to landing pages and sales pages.
Landing pages are designed to obtain peoples contact details such as name and email address. You can create landing pages on a WordPress website and on Kajabi.
Sales pages have a “Buy Now” button on them which is connected to a payment processer. Again, you can create these pages using WordPress or Kajabi.
Also, on your website you can have banners that are visual promotional assets that showcase your products and services. When people click on those banners you can direct them to either your landing pages or sales pages.
One other strategy for your website is to have page tabs in your header navigational menu. Those pages can also direct people to your landing or sales pages either on your website or Kajabi.
Create Videos To Promote Your Online Courses
Another great way to promote your landing or sales pages is using videos. You create videos that offer value such as tutorial “how to” or general education about problems people are experiencing.
Then under your video place a link to your blogs or page tabs on your website. People then land on your website and can decide what to do from there.
I understand that this is a lot to take in over the few minutes it takes to read this article. Showing you how to sell online courses from your own website is part of my Build Your AU curriculum.
