You will have various pages that make up your website such as home pages, contact pages, landing pages and sales pages. Also, you will have a blog facility so you can create blogs posts just like the one you are reading now.
All those pages are designed to deliver value through the content that you create. Each one will have its own message depending on the outcome you want to create from your website visitors.
There will be money pages on your website which will generate revenue for your business. Landing pages, sales pages and your blog posts will have a call to action on them. These calls to action will in general be to capture leads or ask for the sale at that point in time.

The first type of traffic that you can generate for you website takes a little bit of work on your part. Nothing in life is ever given to you on a plate unless you win the lottery, so you must earn things. That is no different when it come s to website traffic. So how do you do this?
To earn this traffic, you must rely on the actions that you take along with some help from other people. To start with I will focus on the content that you create on your website such as blog posts.
When you create blog posts they must match certain criteria especially with the search engines. You will be creating content that you want to be featured by the search engine listings. When people go on to the likes of Google, they are looking for solutions and it is Googles responsibility to deliver information for possible solutions.
Your blog post is the ideal vehicle to deliver that solution, but you must earn the right to be featured. Google, Bing, and the other search engines will only reward you if you put the work in. This means that your content must be constructed in a way that offers the support people are looking for. It also must be relevant to the topic and be valuable for them to give you recognition.
Another way of earning website traffic online is to be recognised by individuals in your industry. They may have their own podcast or video channels and may be prepared to interview on their channel. This will expose you to their audience and hopefully you create a good impression, so they then look you up. Maybe they then start to follow you!
Getting Referred To On Social Platforms
Still within the sphere of earning traffic to your webpages I will mention the power of referral marketing. This only stems from you having some authority and credibility that people then acknowledge. So how can they acknowledge you?
There will be people in your industry or an industry that is related who have their own websites and social media channels. Those people will recognise you within the content they create and publish. It could be within their own blog posts or on their own timelines and profiles.
The result is that their audience may search for you on the main search engines. When they find you, they will then check out your own online presence and real estate. If they like what they see, then there is the potential of them contacting you directly.
A little way distant from the online social platforms are the platforms where people meet each other face to face. If you have made an impact on a person then there is every chance, they will refer you to their friends. Go old word of mouth marketing which in many ways has thee most foundation. Usually people only do this when it is deserved and in many ways is the ultimate accolade.

You can control traffic because you can direct people exactly where you want them to go. To gain the ability to control traffic means that you must open your wallet or purse. This is the difference between controlled traffic and the previous which is free relating to monetary terms.
Paid marketing strategies are the quickest way to drive traffic to your products, services and offers. In some respects, it can be likened to turning on a tap and water comes out instantly. When you pay for advertising it is like turning on the tap only this time website visitors come out of the spout. So where do you want them to go?
For this type of traffic, you must send them to your money pages that I previously mentioned. Predominantly you will send them to a landing page or squeeze page to extract their personal details.
These pages are very simple in design and have one objective which is to grab their details. There will be headlines which are hooks to grab their attention along with marketing copy to set the scene.
Try to incorporate some of your story within the copy along with the benefits of your offer. The offer will be free such as an eBook, video, cheat sheet or worksheet which you trade for their details. Below is an example of one of my landing pages that I use for my Build Your AU mastermind.
This is the first barrier that your visitors will come face to face with and there will be a certain number of walk away. That doesn’t matter because if they are not prepared to hand over their name and email, they will never hand over any money. It is a way of filtering people out, so you potentially work with people who are more aligned with you.
How Can Your Drive Traffic To This Page?
How the process works is as soon as they register their details they go on a database of subscribers. Now there are various ways that you can get people to a page such as this.
The most popular one is through pay-per-click ads on platforms such as Google, Bing, Facebook, and YouTube.
Then there are strategies such as email marketing where you can ask list owners to send your link to their list. It is called solo ads because your ad and link will be the only one, they send out. Usually the list owners create the email copy for you as they know which language their lists are used to receiving. They will quote you a price for each click they guarantee you will receive.
Next there are banner ads which you may have seen on websites that you have visited. They appear at the top, side and bottom of webpages that are usually linked to your industry. It is a simple process as when someone clicks on the banner, they are directed to your squeeze page.
There is another strategy called native advertising and this is where you will place image ads that also have a headline attached. This is to hook the reader to grab their attention. When a person clicks on this type of advertisement, they are usually directed to your landing page.
There is an alternative strategy where you can direct them to a specific piece of content which then has a call to action. That call to action will then take them to the landing page.
So, you can earn or control your traffic but the ultimate type of traffic that you can have is the one you own.
How Would You Like To Turn On The Traffic Whenever You Want?
Wherever possible you want people to visit your landing page and give you’re their details. I mentioned before that you then start to build a database of subscribers. These are people who have expressed an interest in you and your business and have given you their permission to contact them.
This is the best type of traffic because once you have lists of people, you can contact them whenever you want. You don’t need to rely on Google recognising you in their search results. Neither do you need people to refer you anymore and you certainly don’t have to put your hand in your pocket.
I personally have lists that contain thousands of peoples details and it is my own traffic distribution channel. If I have product offers and promotions, I can send out an email to my list with no marketing costs involved.
If you build up a great relationship with your list, then you know that each time you email them a certain % of people will buy. What I should mention is that lists will differ because you will have lists that contain leads. These leads must be nurtured into paying customers.
Create Multiple Types Of Lists
Then once you have converted them to customers, they then go onto your buyers lists. These lists will be smaller but more powerful because they have already show you their commitment.
When you contact your lead or prospect list generally you will be promoting your front end offers. As for your buyer lists you will generally promote your higher ticket items. This is where your profits come from.
Your goal is to create a traffic source that you own because you have 100% control.
As you can see website traffic online can come in all shapes and sizes. Each type of traffic is effective and vital for your business to survive. The fact is that some types are more powerful than others regarding the levels of control and ownership you have.
