Hello Trish Davies here and it is getting colder down here in Tasmania, winter is starting to set in. I have just had a great few days with my daughter up in New South Wales where it was definitely warmer than here.
It is great to take some down time and spend it with the people that you love. It was her birthday so where else would I be? Anyway, I am back now and getting back into the swing of things and today I want to talk about one of the core pillars of Build Your AU.
The core pillar in question is building authority and credibility within your niche or industry. Now authority and credibility can only be based upon who your are and what you have done. There are no grey areas but far too many times I see people thinking that they must fake success.
When it comes to business that is the purest form of self-sabotage as you will be found out. You will earn the worst kind of reputation which you will never recover from. Your audience, customer base, want to know who the real person is behind the business.
They want total honesty, transparency and integrity from the people they will be potentially dealing with. To build credibility with customers you must be willing to serve and be there for your customers when they need you. Here are 4 strategies to build that credibility in your customers minds.

Always Show Up
Now there are two angles to this so let me explain. The first is that you must show up online when people search your name, which they will. You will connect with people or people will become aware of you and what you do.
Therefore, you must be present online when they enter your name into the search box. If you don’t appear then to the person looking you simply don’t exist and you will lose them, potentially forever.
You must build your own online network and profiles. The first port of call should be your authority website which is your piece of virtual real estate. Your authority website is your window where the outside world can look in. It is the perfect place to showcase your just how credible you are through who you are and what you have done.
You will also need to create other online profiles such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook etc. These profiles will form your own online communication network where people can connect with you.
Now the other side to showing up is to engage and interact with your leads and potential customers. When people contact you then make sure you respond to, relate to and resolve what people are asking.
A great way of doing this is to set up your own private groups on Facebook. I do this which makes it easy for me to connect with my customers and become involved with their journeys.

Word of mouth marketing is one of the most powerful ways to build credibility with customers. Think about this for a moment. It doesn’t cost you a penny and more importantly it doesn’t cost you any time. Other people are doing the marketing for you through simply recommending you to their contacts.
This process can be either physical or virtual. Chance meetings between people can lead to opportunity for you. Likewise, recommendations on social media are visible to the world making it increasingly likely that you will attract new customers.
Be Prepared To Give Before You Receive
You have expertise and experience which you must share with your customers. Sharing value and insights will dramatically elevate your credibility and authoritative status. So how can you do this?
If you enjoy writing then create value driven articles and publish them on your authority website. Also, there are many article directories that you can publish text based information.
YouTube is the perfect place for you to build credibility with customers. It is real and there is no hiding place when you create video. This is my favourite marketing strategy to build rapport, engagement and interaction with my audience.
There are many question and answer websites online with Quora being the standout platform. The nature of this is that people will seek help through asking a question. You as the authority in your niche will have the answer which you simply share.
It won’t take too much time before people notice the value you are adding to society. This is a perfect way to show your credibility to a worldwide audience. Similarly on your social media platforms there are always people asking for help and assistance. React in a positive way to that assistance by providing valuable insights.
Become A Published Author
Just think about how credible you will appear if people see your face or name on a published book. This is something that I have done along with members of my Build Your AU mastermind program.
Now you can go down the traditional method of having a publisher do the work for you. There may be industry specific publishers which you will need to do some research on.
Alternatively, you may want to consider self-publishing. Platforms such as Amazon, along with others, have self-publishing channels that you can leverage. Take some time to investigate what opportunities there are out there in the self-publishing world.
Another option is to create a word document as your transcript. Then convert that document into a PDF, add a nice cover image and offer it as a digital download. It is still a book but in digital format which is referred toas an eBook.
You can either offer for free as a lead magnet or you could charge a fee. Either way you will still be seen as credible as it will be your name and face connected to the book.
