If You Are Struggling To Create Your Own Product Ideas, Then You Need To Discover That “Thing” That Makes You Great
Every business needs something to sell but if you are stuck on how to create your own product ideas then look at what you are good at.
I have talked a lot about authenticity and authority which can be extracted from your own unique story and why it’s important. The same can be said for the products and services that you are going to provide to your audience. Product development and testing can take time and money, but you must create your own product ideas in the first place.
This is where many business owners get bogged down because they at the beginning they have nothing to sell. What I have learnt in business over the years is that there is no substitute for uniqueness. Even if it is a mass-produced product you can still be successful if you differentiate yourself.
The common thread for Build Your AU is leveraging your story to attract an audience for your product and services. So, what I am going to say now may shock you. You already have the products inside of you and just need to know how to extract them.
I am going to ask you to think with both your heart and your head. You may be looking at a blank piece of paper, a whiteboard or a screen on your computer. Frustration may be kicking in because you haven’t got any ideas flowing as to what you can sell.
With that being said I am going to ask a lengthy question which will take a lot of soul searching and consideration. I want you to ask yourself “What is the most successful thing I have ever tackled, and what made me successful”?
Create Your Own Product Ideas From Your Talents & Gifts
This was the exact question that I asked my Build Your AU mastermind members. We had a lady that had achieved a high level of success academically within her industry. She explained in detail the levels of dedication and hard work she had put in to pass all her exams. This process had taken several years and once she had shared her story the mastermind came into effect.
I was able to extract many segments out of her story and with the collaboration of other members we gave her some ideas. Ideas on what products and services she could offer and how to deliver them to her audience. We all found her story very powerful because it was unscripted and full of emotion. It was authentic and we all became aware of her authority which can used within her message.
This is a process that you must go through I would say individually at first. Look at the most successful thing that you have tackled. It could be something practical, academic, emotional or maybe changing your mindset on something specific or in general.
Then it may be beneficial to get together with some of your close circle of influence and then ask them what they think. You then enter a mastermind environment where ideas and opinions start to flow. That data is the staring point and then you must move into a space where you act.
Turning Your Achievements Into An Actionable Plan
At this point you will have a valuable data driven resource with more than one thing that you have achieved success at. What you must do is concentrate on just one thing, the thing that stands out more than any other. Then what you must do is look at exactly what did you do to create the success. This also involves the adversities you experienced along the way and how you overcame them.
This is the action steps that you took to achieve your success and reach your end goal. The step by step process will be the base for your products and services. It is vitally important that you don’t miss any step out otherwise your products and services will simply not work. Again, this defines your authenticity and your authority because you want to show the proof of the pudding so to speak.
This was the exact point that one of our mastermind members pointed out to this lady. That is the power of working with other people who can see the bigger picture. Something that on our own we unfortunately miss.
Now you have an actionable plan it is time to think about how you can package it all up in products and services.
Leveraging Technology To Create Your Training Package
Technology today gives us as business owners, trainers, coaches and mentors the tools to deliver our message. We spoke about this within this mastermind and thrashed out different formats that we can utilize within our package. The obvious ones are using text within eBooks or physical books. Videos can be created with your smartphone of professional DSLR camera. You can also use video screen capture programs to create online modular courses.
Video conference software such as Zoom can be leveraged to create the mastermind environment which is what I use. Then the ultimate delivery platforms could be systems such as Kajabi can house all your resources in a membership area.
Most of my training resources are in digital format. This benefits me in so many ways because I can deliver my message much quicker than traditional methods. eBooks can be downloaded as soon as payment has been made. Secure password protected membership areas can be accessed as soon as payment is made.
The most important thing to remember is that what ever you have been successful at can be packaged up in a product. Products and services that are aligned with your true authenticity to establish your authority.
