Right from a service-based business, retail, coaching, consulting to name a few, there obviously are many more. Going digital helps with customer acquisition, lead generation, product delivery and payment processing.

Basically, your business model can be transformed into a powerful automated experience for your customers. Now there are two sides to the concept of digital business, but technology is the common factor.

First look at the taxi industry and technology has transformed that with companies such as Uber and it’s alternatives. Basically, you can create a network of contractors that are linked through an app.

Each contractor joins the network and offers their services, consumers have an app on their phone. When they need the service, they log onto the app and it locates the nearest available driver.

Another industry is food delivery which works very much like Uber. When people want t takeaway they can log onto an app, choose what they want and have it delivered.

Now there are many more examples, but the key here is to give a great customer experience. At the same time business who use digital technology gain more exposure therefore more clients and increased cash flow.

Now I am not saying that being an Uber driver delivers a digital lifestyle business. They are always on the go, but technology is enabling them to become busier. I would imagine the founders of Uber have a much different lifestyle as they developed the technology and automated the process.

When it comes to creating a digital lifestyle business you must be the creator and control what is going on. You don’t have to be as big as Uber to do so. What I want to look at is creating more of e-business which is personal to you but can command a global audience.

What this means is creating digital systems that work for you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Right from product development, lead generation, prospect nurturing, customer conversion, payment processing and product delivery.

Now that may seem a lot of working parts to handle and it is, but technology puts all of that together. Let’s break things down to simplify the process. What I will mention at this point is that you must be clear on what type of business you want to create.

Product Creation 

Obviously you need products and services to sell to create a digital lifestyle business. The easiest products to create are digital products right from eBook, videos, worksheets, podcasts, training courses and more.

Because they are digital they can be delivered instantly online. Therefore, you have no shipping headaches, no shipping costs and the customer gets instant gratification.

If you want to sell physical products there are processes where you can contact suppliers. Once that contact has been made those suppliers can manufacture your products.

Lead Generation

Your business must have a regular supply of leads and this can be done automatically. There is technology available that enables you to create lead generation webpages.

On those pages you have contact forms which people fill in. Things like their, name, email address, home address, phone etc. Once they submit their details they go onto a database, again leveraging automated technology. This is where you nurture your prospects.

Nurturing Prospects 

So, you have people on your data base and trough leveraging this technology you can communicate with your prospects. What you do is set up messaging sequences that are designed to build relationships with the prospects.

You deliver value in your messaging which highlights problems people are experiencing. Then after a number of communications a percentage of your prospects will be converted into customers.

You convert them by providing links to sales pages which showcases your products and services.

Payment Processing 

On your sales pages you will have buttons that people can click to purchase your products and services. Those buttons are connected to your payment processor such as PayPal or Stripe.

Once payment has been received it then triggers the product delivery stage.

If you have digital products the customer will be directed to download pages or secure password protected areas. Again, this is all done automatically and enables your customers to create their accounts and access their purchases.

For physical products your payment processors will be connected to your fulfilment houses. Here they receive the order, pick the product of the shelf, pack it, and then ship it to your customer.
