Online coaching is a business model that enables you to enjoy what you love doing. Unfortunately, the majority of people go through the motions of doing a job to receive a paycheque. It is a means to an end and a passionless cycle of life.
Now I have just mentioned passionless. Online coaching takes the “less” away because you can coach people on what you are passionate about. For example, I am passionate about helping people create their own personal brand as I have done it for myself.
Therefore, I created Build Your AU which is a personal branding program. It also helps people then create online courses based upon what they are passionate about.

You can replicate the process that I have been through. So, what are you passionate about? What really gets your juices flowing? What do you do that makes time fly? The answers to those two questions could potentially be the foundations to an online coaching business.
When you have passion work doesn’t seem like work anymore. Drive, determination, motivation become abundant and when you add purpose into the mix then you can become unstoppable.

Great Communication Skills
Now there are two sides to online coaching. The first is where you deliver your content automatically through systems and process. Your training material will involve many formats such as text, video, audio and imagery.
You will create eBooks, video lesson and audio lessons. These products and services are delivered automatically once the customer has paid you. Once they receive their purchases they are immediately exposed to you and what you have to say.
My recommendation is to communicate with them as though you were talking to a friend. Make it conversational and personal and not as though you are delivering content like your high school teacher would.
The second side to communication skills is when you have one on one coaching sessions. There may be a time when you are face to face so you must have good social skills to connect with people.
Other times you will speak to people through platforms such as Zoom. Now Zoom is fantastic and I use it all the time but there is a barrier. There is a screen separating you from the other person who can be thousands of miles away.
Forget about that barrier and talk to them as you would to a friend. It makes them feel at ease and you will have more impact.
One important thing to remember is to listen to what they say. Each person will have different needs so you must be clear on these needs so that you can serve them.
Good Technical Skills
Now don’t break out into a cold sweat because I have mentioned technical skills. You don’t need to be a technical expert or nerd to become an online coach. You do however need some basic technical understanding.
I can assure you that if you can read this post then you have most of what you need. You are technically savvy but there may be things that need to be developed. If you can type then you can create a word document which can be converted into an eBook.
In all probability you will have a smartphone which can record videos. Also, on that phone you will have some kind of voice recording app. Text, video and audio are the core ingredients to an online coaching business. You already know how to create them.
