The Must Have Online Coaching Tools

To become a professional online coach, you must have online coaching tools fit for purpose. Otherwise, you are an amateur. Find out what you need!

Hi Trish Davies here and today I want to look at the practical side to online coaching. Specifically online coaching tools you need so that you can position yourself as a professional online coach.

All professional tradespeople have the tools they need to do the job they are be paid for. I should now as for around a year now I have been renovating my house here in Tasmania.

I am coming up the year anniversary of my big move from the mainland down here to Tassie. Over that time the amount of tradespeople I have had through the door is amazing. Hundreds of man/women hours has been spent by highly talented and skilled people.

One common thing they have is that they all turn up with the tools that are fit for purpose. That is, one tell-tale sign that they are professional, it is like their tools are attached to their body. Everything works in sync and the end finish is second to none.

As a professional online coach, you must follow their suit. You must have the tools in place to position yourself as a credible and authoritative coach. The tradespeople I have had round my house have spent thousands on their tools for their trade.

As an online coach you don’t need to spend thousands, that is the good news. The tools you use in your coaching business won’t wear out like a carpenters saw does. You are looking at software upgrades as opposed to hardware replacements.

What do you need?

Must Have Online Coaching Tools

online coaching tools

I am going to share with you thee must have online coaching tools to run your online coaching business. Now there are two sides to online coaching. The first is where you are face to face with your customers. The second is where your customers access your material that is pre-recorded.

It is my objective to address both sides and also show you how they combine. One thing you do need though is a laptop, pc, tablet or smartphone which I assume you already have.

Video Conferencing Software

I am going to start with the live face to face online coaching element. You will be conducting personal one on one and group coaching live and in the moment. To facilitate this, I recommend you use Zoom as it is what I use.

Zoom is great because you can connect with multiple people from all around the world. They have a free membership level which is more than enough to get you started.

As you grow you can look to upgrade your account to gain more benefits and features. Zoom enables you to be live on screen with your customers but you can also record the sessions. Therefore, you keep an archive of all your meetings which is content you can use again.

HD Video Equipment

I highly recommend you purchase some high definition video recording equipment. Obviously the reason for that is that you picture quality will be professional. You can get great quality webcams for around $100. Also, you can use DSLR cameras which create higher quality video.

HD Audio Equipment

high definition microphone

The principles are the same with audio as they are with video. I recommend you purchasing a high definition microphone either to sit on your desk or to be attached to your clothing . When I am outside I regularly use a lapel microphone.

Video Editing Software

I use Apple devices which means I have iMovie software to edit the video content I create. Microsoft will have a similar application, but you can also use third party software such as Camtasia.

These fist four online coaching tools will create the majority of your material for your online coaching business. Before I look at content delivery platforms I just want to cover the written word.

Text Creation Software

Software programs such as Microsoft Word will be what you use to create written material. As an online coach you will create text driven coaching resources. A simple word document can be converted into a PDF which can be downloaded as an eBook.

These eBooks can be used for coaching purposes but can also be used for customer acquisition. They make great lead magnets that attract people into your coaching business.

Content Delivery Platforms

I use Kajabi to deliver all of my pre-recorded material. Here I can add the recordings of my live Zoom meetings so that my members can access whenever they need.

Also, Kajabi enables you to create full video and audio courses in a modular format. Kajabi handles payment processing using Stripe or PayPal and then creates user accounts after payment has been made.

Calendar Scheduling Software

Applications such as Calendly enables you as an online coach to create a structured coaching schedule. For a few dollars per month Calendly will make appointments, link to your video conferencing software and even take payment.

These are the must have online coaching tools to position yourself as a professional online coach. There are others that intime you can utilize but my objective was to share the online coaching tolls you need from the outset.
