For many business owners overcoming self doubt holds them back because they feel they must be the expert which simply is not true.

Stating a new business is a very daunting challenge at the best of times with many factors to consider. You may have a great idea for your new business but there is something gnawing away in the back of your mind. It is a human reaction to question one’s self when we on the verge of venturing into something new.

We ask ourselves questions to justify not moving forward. Things like “will this really work?”, or “what if this happens”. The list of “what if’s” and “maybe’s” can end up as long as your arm if you let them. This maybe what you are experiencing right now because you are doubting yourself.

Overcoming self doubt is crucial for you and your business idea to move forward. Many new business owners and entrepreneurs feel that they must be an expert in their field to be taken seriously. They feel that unless they have this status then they can’t establish authority with their audience.

My Build Your AU mastermind focuses on establishing authority within your business and industry. It is one of the three main pillars that any business should have in place, but you can have authority without being an expert.

Overcoming Self Doubt To Create An Authority Business

When it comes to building an authority business it is important to realise your own true value. This starts by looking at what you are good at and what you know. You will have some incredible gifts and talents that are just waiting to burst out. When they do you will have an incredible effect on people’s lives.

Although I don’t know you personally, I know this will happen and here is why. It is because I have seen it over and over where people are stuck because they can’t see where their true talents lie. Many times, they try to overcomplicate things and, in many respects, try and reinvent the wheel. You don’t need to do this because you have a brilliant business within you just waiting to be discovered.

What I do within Build Your AU is extract everything that makes up the person you are. What achievements you have experienced along with any failures you may have endured. Don’t forget a failure is only learning not how to do something correctly, and sometimes these are the most valuable lessons.

Then I will help you identify your true talents and gifts along with what you are passionate about. So, with your talents and gifts working alongside your successes and failures will give you an authoritative status. Now can you see why you don’t need to have letters after your name and certificates on the wall. I will help you create content around what you know and what you are good at. This will help you create your authority business model which you can then monetize.

Still Not Convinced? Then Here Is An Example 

To emphasise this point I want to share with you an example of one of my Build Your AU Mastermind members. We a gentleman on one of the weekly webinar sessions who expressed his concern of not having a college degree. He thought that this meant he lacked a sense of credibility and authority therefore it was holding him back in his business.

He had been involved in a family business for several years but had also set up multiple businesses of his own. So, he had the experience of business in general and his own businesses had been very successful. He continued to say that he had also helped local business owners with their businesses.

They had approached him to help create business plans for their businesses. Now first and foremost he must have had credibility for them to approach him in the first place. Those business owners must have regarded him as an authority on business in general. If they hadn’t then they wouldn’t have put their trust in him.

The result of the advice he gave to each business owner that approached him was this. They all followed his advice and then experienced great success in their own businesses. One point he also raised was that he had not charged them for the service.

Straight away other members along with myself saw the business potential for this gentleman. He obviously knows what he is talking about and he has social proof through the clients that he has helped. In a matter of around 10 minutes we had a business model worked out for him.

A Knowledge Product Business Model 

He could create a training program based on supplying business plan information. Starting with some free information in the form of an eBook he could share some of his knowledge.

Then people could join a specific training program which helped create a business plan for their business. Finally, he could offer consulting services for which he could charge a high-ticket price.

It didn’t matter that he hadn’t got a college degree which he thought he needed. Experience and social proof are all you need to claim authority status which he has through obtaining testimonials.

This is a real-life example and the principles relate to you. What you must do is look at all the things that you can do and there will be things that can be monetized. Then it is a matter of creating your own authority business model through the products you can offer.

One of the best ways to do this is through simple “How To” products such as eBooks and video tutorial courses. These types of products are relatively easy to create and have a huge demand in the marketplace. They are very attractive to consumers especially if there is a back story behind products and services. The back story is you which shows your authenticity and establishes your own authority.

As you can see you don’t need reams of qualifications to be an authority in business. Overcoming self doubt is the first thing you must do for you to move forward. You have so much value to share with the world and that is thee foundation to your authority business.
