5 Key Elements To Your Personal Branding Framework

Yu must have a personal branding framework in place to give your brand structure. Here are the 5 elements you must put in place to create your personal brand.

Hi Trish Davies and the focus for today is creating a personal branding framework. Everything in life must have structure to it otherwise you run the risk of imploding and collapse. Your personal brand is no different, you must have key elements in place.

Now I realise that may sound a bit complex but in reality isn’t. There is no need to become confused when building your personal brand. Success can be born out of simplicity and that is my objective today.

I want to make it as simple as possible for you to gain clarity on the personal branding framework you require. Everything that I share with you today can be developed through my free 9-step personal branding program.

I will share more information on this program shortly but for now let’s dive into 5 key elements of a personal brand.

How To Build Your Personal Branding Framework

personal branding framework

The following 5 elements for your personal branding framework starts of with gaining clarity on your objectives. Then I will look at some practical elements that start to bring your personal brand together.

Key Element #1 – Gaining Clarity On Your Goals

When creating your brand, you must be clear on why you are creating and what you want to achieve. Here are some examples to emphasise possible reasons to create a personal brand.

For many people who create personal brands their objective is to generate revenue through their products and services. They want to generates sales, as many as they can.

Now products and services come in many shapes and sizes. They could be physical or digital. In general, those products and services will have some emotional connection with the product vendor. After all it’s their name and face that’s associated.

A personal brand enhances that persons authenticity and authority. Also, it enhances the belief the person has in what they are offering.

Personal brands also help to attract business and career opportunities. For business owners it can help attract joint venture partners. As for career professionals a personal brand can help them secure high level positions and roles within other companies.

So, there are a few examples of why you want to create a personal brand. It is important that you have that clarity before you move onto the next element in this personal branding framework.

Key Element #2 – Designing Your Brand

When it comes to designing your personal brand, I want you to look beyond the aesthetics. Where colours, logo, fonts and imagery is important the design of your brand lies much deeper.

Obviously a personal brand reflects the person so you must look deep inside. You must go on a self-discovery journey because that’s where the identity of your brand will be created.

Therefore, you must look at your characteristics, passions, talents, values, skills and beliefs. Once you have defined all of these elements you can then incorporate all of them within your brand.

This is what makes your brand truly unique. No one else will be able to position themselves as you do, this is what will set you apart.

Key Element #3 – Deciding On Your Platform

Digital technology has made it easier to communicate your message. Back in the day you were limited to mainstream communication channels which were clunky and more expensive.

For example, marketing your message in newspapers was very expensive. The same can be said for radio, billboards and direct mail. Those terms seem antiquated now, but it is only a short time ago in businesses terms that they were leveraged.

Evolution happens and now you have a plethora of platforms that you can self manage and use. Your personal brand will have exposure on multiple platforms. Here are some examples –

  • Your Authority Website
  • Social Media
  • YouTube Channel
  • Podcast Channel
  • Electronic Newsletters

For all of these platforms to work for you, you must feed them information, content in other words. That is the next key element to this personal branding framework.

Key Element #4 – Creating Your Content

content marketing

Your content is your communication tool but the impact it has all depends on how you use it. I have a unique content creation formula that I teach within my free 9-step personal branding program. Four core principles to that formula is to create content around the following categories.

  • Entertain
  • Educate
  • Inspire
  • Inform

On your authority website you will be creating long form content similar to this blog post. Social media is more for short form content. Video is self explanatory as is podcasting. As regard to newsletters, they can be just a few pages of more in-depth depending on your niche.

You must have a purpose to your content and give value. That could be solving particular problems that you audience has or to provide tips. Also, you can share your story, or elements of it to connect with your audience.

Always provide value to your audience who are the last key element to your personal branding framework.

Key Element #5 – Defining Your Audience

Your audience is a small segment of society, a niche, who will become your community. Your community is the place where you can deliver your message to maximum effect.

Here you will create engagement which also creates trust within your brand. Your audience is captive so you can control the narrative within that community. Now your community, your audience, will have challenges, they will be in pain.

This is your opportunity to serve them and relieve their pain in an authentic and authoritative way. This is where all of your most engaging conversations will take place individually and collectively.
